Whether you want to relax, practice outdoor sports or soak up history and culture, Palamós and its surroundings offer you an unforgettable experience.

The Costa Brava does not lose its charm in winter and doing routes at this time of the year has many positive points: the tranquility and peace, the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks. Here are 3 easy routes around Palamós and ideas to celebrate Christmas there.

From Palamós to Calella de Palafrugell

It is a circular route of 19.78 km of about 5 hours and a half approximately. Even so, if it seems too long, you can shorten it by different sections.

You can take the outward direction around the coast and return inland. Going along the coast you will enjoy a marine landscape, passing cove by cove, with the views that make this place so special.

The return is a greener landscape, passing through forests of pines and cork oaks

From Palamós to Sant Feliu de Guíxols

A route of 18.92 km, taking about 4 hours and 27 minutes. If you find it too long, you can turn back at any point you like.

It is a route that passes through promenades and the famous Camí de Ronda, therefore, the views are mostly, if not entirely, maritime. Some of the points through which it passes are: initially through the port of Palamós, arriving at Torre Colomina, accessing the Torre Valentina, walking along the coves Sa Conca, S'Agaró and Cala Jonca and finally arriving at Sant Feliu de Guíxols

From Palamós to Cap Roig Gardens

This is a shorter route, specifically 8.83 km and approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes.

It is a path that also passes along the seashore, walking along some beaches such as Playa Fosca and coves such as Cala Estreta. One of the most interesting points is the Iberian settlement of Palamos Castle, dating from the sixth century.

And turning off along the forest track you end up arriving at the Cap Roig Gardens, gardens with almost 800 botanical species, picnic areas and terraces to enjoy both botanical and maritime views

Gastronomic tradition

Those of you who are of a certain age surely remember the bread with wine and sugar, a typical and ancient snack of Catalan cuisine that today is almost lost. It was the snack of the poor: all you needed was bread, wine and sugar. Many shepherds used to eat it to get their strength back while tending the flock

Historical curiosity of Palamós

In 1543, Palamós was attacked by the famous Ottoman corsair Red Beard, who sacked the town and spread fear among its inhabitants. This curious historical episode is still remembered, and in the Museu de la Pesca you can see a more complete account with documents and images that explain it in detail.
